Stories of the spring, Singing into the fall :)

Hello my Darlin Dears, curious meadow creatures that try to nest in my hair & you adorable Gnomes who will not stop talking about the baby ducks that are on their way (they are currently sitting at the harvest table coming up with possible names… they are still debating weather the names should have a theme),

Miss Lamb your lover of Asparagus here,

Just the other day, I was in lovely OKC & I was chit chatting with the oh so wonderful Matt Burch about this out of the ordinary weather. He was addressing the fact that he would be driving a bit up north to get this season’s first cutting of Asparagus.

Goodness gracious… I love me some Asparagus.

Just cut Asparagus, just found mushrooms, a merlot tinged cream poured over the sautéed loveliness…. Can we say heaven? Being single, I often wish a man would treat me like spring… & appreciate me just so. A perpetual newness to smile at…

What I also brought up is the fact that we need to have a mini Asparagus festival. Even if it were just a few of us lovers of agrarian tides and well wishes, I believe it would be amazing. Take over those few precious chairs and tables set up in front of the lovely Urban Agrarian Market, and simmer in a moment of new…

Why not, in fact, do this every time a new veggie or fruit is ready for Harvest?

Imagine the Strawberries?!!:)
The Peaches?
The Okra?:)

The Eggplant!!

I am currently stretched out under my just blossoming pecan tree & dreaming about what these lovely spring rains will do for it’s ever growing limbs and leafs…. For weeks now I have been skimming its rough buds with my fingers and willing it to just open. Open before my humble little farm, flower, grow a pecan & then let me bake a pie….

It is so lovely that even in these early days of spring we are writing stories that seem to flesh out within the days of summer, and truly come to fruition before the hem of fall.....

I find an unspeakable joy in knowing these little potato plants will be harvested in summer and used in my classic potato soup this fall.

The large Pecan tree that curves around the shape of my little house is a new story every year. We slumber within days of rain and strive through days of drought. It dapples light upon my smiles and seems to know more about my sorrow than my tear filled eyes could see.

I ask of you in these early days of spring to pause and celebrate the new… celebrate the change…. Celebrate the whole of heart and the growth, that my darlin dear, you can see being told before you.

Be optimistic… the height of the trees can attest to it my loves… a story with every ring.

I send a kiss to each of your foreheads…

I do… I do… love you!!

Baby ducks, baby lambs & harvesting all that is new,

Wild Greens My Loves:)

Hello my Darlin Dears, young feathered meadow creatures that live in my apricot tree & you adorable Gnomes whom keep on sticking wild mustard in my hair,

Miss Lamb your deer of the forest here,

Goodness gracious.....all of this lovely new growth:)

Walking outside of my lovely country front door, which is really on the side of my house, it is awe inspiring to see the variety of plants that are growing in my acrerage :)

I even picked some wild mustard and mint and brought it into Ludavine for them to enjoy:) Gosh... I just love Ludavine...

They even featured my little bundle on their weekly restraunt video update:)

Their was one plant that we could not identify, but I know it is not bad for you:)

I have actually been eating it for years, & love drying it out in the summer for lovely fall use:) But, Stranger over at Ludavine said he could ask a lovely amazing woman who knows about greens what it might be:)

.....I have simply had all things growing on the brain:)

Like I mentioned in my last post, the folks over at Horn's seed & Supply were a great help, & I had a lot of fun:)

I even bought a succulent...my very first one:)

What I encourage you to do today is grab a lovely book on wild greens and go hunting:) drive to a nice forest area and you never know what you will find...just make sure you know what it tis though before you eat it:) I would have never began eating the plant we have coined "acorn weed" if my Grandpa would have never showed me that it was aok to use:)

Let me know what you find Darlin Dears:)

Besides that little old talk I am giving in Chicago (which...I am looking forward to... I heart you C Town)

But.. I have had lots of lovely captures coming into my e-mail from the show:) Thank you for tagging me & e-mailing me loves:)

They are all so precious to me:) what great keepsakes of such a very intimate installation I had the honor of creating:)

Ooohhhh spring planting....

It has started:)

Due to our unusually warm & lovely spring, every surface of my house is covered in sprouting mini greenhouses & I went a little crazy at Horn Seed & Supply...Chris over there was very kind and answered my every question:) Including sand to soil ratio for carrot & beet planting:) I just adore agrarian chit chat..

Did you know...

....The artist sees the garden vegetables as people?:)

We really do...

I sing to my garden...I play the cello to my Garden ( i cant wait to get the dang bridge fixed)...I also play the cello & the banjo comically bad....maybe this summer I will pick up the dulcimer:)

What I ask of you all, as crazy as it might sound, is to talk to your garden:) tell your flowers how lovely they look today... tell your just sprouting Genvieve Basil that you can't wait for it to grow up and adorn your pasta...tell your tiny carrot sprouts, "you can do it....I believe in you." :) Tell your potatoes to start showing their leaves!! Say sweet things to your beets:)

I do:)

Did you know I love you?:)

I really do:)

I send a kiss to each of your foreheads :)

new sprouts, Friday flowers & you laying the length of me,
